CHARELSTON, Ill. – It wasn't a very busy day Saturday for the Tennessee Tech track & field team on the final day of the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Championships, with Golden Eagles competing in just four events and posting one personal best.
In the shot put, junior Makayla Kington had a personal best of 36 feet, two inches to lead three Tech competitors. Ashley Todd narrowly missed her career-best with a toss of 32 feet, six inches, while Jaelyn Todd put the steel ball 26 feet, 11 inches.
Earlier in the day, Sonel Bezuidenhout clocked an 11:02.76 in the 3,000-meter run, followed by freshman Baylee Balgemann in 12:25.74.
In the triple jump, the Golden Eagles got two solid leaps but neither Atlanta Westbrook nor Chelsea Mills could beat their personal best, both of which stood as school records. Westbrook cleared 37 feet, two inches while Mills had a best jump of 36 feet, four inches.
The day wrapped up with Tech's 4x400-meter relay team running a time of 4:05.63. The lineup included Brooklyn Kimball, Westbrook, Tiara Hymon and Madison Stremler.
