Dodd earns adidas®  OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech's Cody Dodd earned her first adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor on Tuesday for her impressive performances in the Cowgirl Classic hosted by McNeese State. The award is voted on by conference Sports Information Directors. 

Dodd, a 6-foot-4 opposite from Cookeville, Tenn., has been on a tear as of late. In a sweep over Alcorn State, Dodd led the offense with 11 kills, while adding eight digs. In a lost to the host McNeese State, she proved her defense abilities as well, tallying six digs and five blocks, along with a team-high nine kills on offense.

In the second day of action at the Cowgirl Classic, Dodd remained dominant. She put down seven kills, adding 12 digs and three blocks in a lost to Louisiana-Monroe. Dodd's offense was at an all-time high in the final match of the tournament against Prairie View A&M.  She went off for a career-best 20 kills while hitting an astounding clip of .600. She added five digs and four blocks.

On the weekend, Dodd averaged five points per set. She finished the week with six service aces and 60 points. Dodd also recorded 2.58 digs and 1.17 blocks per set over the four matches.

The OVC Defensive Player of the Week award was given to junior libero Chelsea Bowles of UT Martin, and the Setter of the Week went to freshman Jennifer Hart from Jacksonville State.

The Golden Eagles return to action next week when they head to the Wofford / Gardner-Webb Invitational.
