RICHMOND, Ky. --- The Tennessee Tech volleyball team put forth a good effort in its Ohio Valley Conference road match Saturday, but it was unable to come away with the win as fourth-place Eastern Kentucky took the match 3-0.
The Golden Eagles did not make it easy on the Colonels throughout the match. In each set, TTU stayed right with Eastern Kentucky early on, but EKU would eventually pull away in each instance to take all three sets.
In the third set, Eastern Kentucky built a comfortable lead at 18-13 only to see TTU rally to pull within one point at 23-22. The Colonels recovered just in time as they took the final set 25-23, and the match.
Freshman Sarah Teel paced the Golden Eagle offense with eight kills, while junior Madison Comperry and sophomore Ashleigh Hancock each dished out 14 assists.
EKU's Ashley Edmond led all hitters with 11 kills, while Abbey Cvelbar tallied 27 assists.
The Golden Eagles (2-17, 1-8 OVC) return home for a pair of OVC matches next weekend, beginning with SIU Edwardsville Friday, at 7 p.m.
