Tech closes Meyo Invitational with two more top OVC marks

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Tennessee Tech track & field wrapped up this weekend's appearance at the two-day Meyo Invitational with another pair of conference-leading times to add to its resume.

Na'Asha Robinson's time of 53.53 in the 400m dash gave her a third-place finish in the event and ranks first in the Ohio Valley Conference. It also stands at 19th in the nation. Teammate D'Airrien Jackson followed close behind on Saturday in fifth with a time of 54.13.

Although she already led the OVC in the event, Micayla Rennick improved her time in the 800m run to 2:10.67, finishing 12th.

Rennick and Robinson were also part of Friday's distance medley relay squad, teaming up with Purity Sanga and D'Airrien Jackson for a time of 11:39.32. The foursome placed fourth in the event and now are tops in the conference in the DMR. The time also ranks 29th-fastest in the country.

The Golden Eagles boast conference-leading marks in eight of the 17 offered women's indoor track & field events.

Tech also had three sprinters race in event semifinals on Saturday – Sharnique Leonce in the 60m hurdles semifinal and Lisa Wickham and Ceirra Tate in the 60m dash semifinal. Leonce placed 15th in the hurdles semi at 8.82, and Wickham finished ninth at 7.67 and Tate 14th at 7.726 in the 60m dash semi.

Tech will compete in its final meet before the OVC Indoor Championships, the Arkansas-hosted Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The two-day meet will kick off Friday, Feb. 9.
