MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team saved its best for last at the Golfweek Spring Invitational, firing the lowest round of the day among the 10-team field to finish sixth overall while competing at True Blue Golf Course in Myrtle Beach.

The Golden Eagles dug deep for a 281, the team's best round of the year, settling in with an 861 overall to pass William & Mary for sixth place. North Dakota State took home the tournament title with a 279-277-286=842. Individually, Campbell's Pontus Nyholm and Old Dominion's Carter Morgan tied at the top of the leaderboard, each finishing at 13-under with a 203.

For the purple and gold, it was Bracton Womack leading the charge with another incredible round of action on the links. The senior placed third overall in the field of 57 golfers, carding a 69-71-67=207 to come in 9-under par for the event to earn All-Tournament honors. His 67 in the third and final round marked a career-low for the McMinnville, Tenn. native, as did his 207, beating his previous best 54-hole score by four shots.

Womack's 207 also represented the lowest score by a Golden Eagle since Mitch Thomas ripped off the program's second-lowest score of 203 at the Big Blue Intercollegiate in 2015. He tallied seven birdies alone on Tuesday, including five-straight on the back nine, and totaled 14 in the event to rank second among the field.

Assisting the Tech effort was fellow senior Will Brooks and rookie Mark McDearman. Both tied for 24th in the event with a final score of 217. Brooks tallied a 73 on the day to finish 1-over for the tournament, ranking second in the field with 39 pars. McDearman matched his first-round total of 1-under 71 on Tuesday, earning a par on 15 holes during the final round.

Next among the Golden Eagle competitors was junior Bryce Beeler, putting a ribbon on the tournament with a fantastic score of 2-under 70. Tying for 33rd overall, the Maryville, Tenn. concluded the week with a 4-over 220.

Competing as an individual, fellow junior Chance Taylor wrapped up his tournament with a 72-76-75=223 to tie for 40th. Sophomore Nick Sutton rounded out the Tech lineup with a final score of 76-76-78=230.

Up next for the purple and gold is a familiar event, Tennessee State's Big Blue Intercollegiate hosted at The Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn. from Monday, Apr. 12 through Tuesday, Apr. 13.
