GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action at The National Intercollegiate Monday, competing at National Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
Tech tallied rounds of 300 and 306 for a 606 total on the day, ranking 13th in the field. Fellow Ohio Valley Conference member UT Martin led the event through the first two rounds, putting forth a 283-278=561 effort. Individual leader and Skyhawk, Nick Wolf, ripped off a 9-under 63 in the second round, finishing with a 133.
For the Golden Eagles, it was freshman Mark McDearman leading the way, tying for 24th in the field of 75. The rookie shot 76 in round one before firing a 1-under 71 in the second round for a 147 overall.
Junior Bryce Beeler wrapped up the day tied for 46th, producing a 1-over 73 followed by a 78 for a 151 total score through two rounds. Tying for 60th in the field was sophomore Nick Sutton, who carded a 76-78=154.
Just one shot back of Sutton was senior Bracton Womack, totaling a 75-80=155. Rounding out the Tech lineup was junior Chance Taylor, registering an 81 and 79 for a 160.
The third and final round of The National Intercollegiate is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. CT shotgun start in Greensboro, Ga.
