Beeler's top-five finish highlights Tech's final day at Big Blue Intercollegiate

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team concluded action at the Big Blue Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee State at the President's Reserve Course at Hermitage Golf Club Tuesday afternoon, finishing sixth overall.

The Golden Eagles finished the third and final round of play with a score of 294, coming in at 873 for the two-day event in Old Hickory, Tenn. Ohio Valley Conference rival UT Martin claimed the top spot for the tournament, edging Murray State by a stroke with an 856. Taking home individual medalist honors was the Racers' Austin Knight with a 70-69-71=210. He finished 3-under for the week. 

Tech junior Bryce Beeler captured his second career All-Tournament honor, pacing the Golden Eagles by tying for fourth place among the field of 63 golfers. The Maryville, Tenn. native carded a 68-70-74=212, finishing 1-under for the event for his second-highest finish in the purple and gold. Beeler won the event back in 2019 as a freshman with a career-low 208.

Bracton Womack turned in a solid round of 73 to tie for 17th on the week. The senior from McMinnville, Tenn. wrapped up his three rounds of action with a 5-over 218. Tied for 25th in the field and ranking third among the Tech lineup was redshirt freshman Dabney Dickenson. He turned in a 76 after back-to-back rounds of 72 on Monday, totaling 220 for the event.

Jonesborough, Tenn. native Sean Anderson tied for 45th overall after producing his best round of the tournament and the team's top score of the day. The sophomore fired an even-par 71, combining with a 73 and 82 from the first day of play for a final score of 226.

Rounding out Tech's participants on the links was fellow sophomore Nick Sutton, who totaled a 243 after scores of 80, 79 and 84.

The Golden Eagles will have a brief break from competition before concluding the season at the OVC Championships held in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Tech will compete with the rest of the league Sunday, Apr. 25 through Tuesday, Apr. 27 at the Fighting Joe Course at The Shoals, part of the RTJ Golf Trail.
