COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – For the seventh straight year, at least one member of the Tennessee Tech men's golf team was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

A total of 537 student-athletes across Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, and NJCAA earned the honor for the 2020-21 season, including Golden Eagles Bryce Beeler, Nick Sutton, and Bracton Womack. 2021 marked the second year in which sophomores were eligible for the award. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 40 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I, under 78.0 in Division II, under 79.0 in Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, or under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

"Bryce, Nick, and Bracton are all more than deserving of this honor," Tech head coach Polk Brown expressed. "Their ability to balance their work in the classroom and stay competitive on the course is to be commended. They all lead by example every day for us and I am very proud of each of them for this achievement. I am excited to have each of them back with us for another year and I am looking forward to seeing them grow even further throughout the upcoming season."

The Golden Eagle trio was among a group of 25 golfers from the Ohio Valley Conference included in the 537 players chosen throughout the country.

Beeler, who earned the honor for the second straight year, participated in 15 of Tech's 18 rounds in a COVID-shortened campaign, turning in a scoring average of 73.53 while earning one All-Tournament nod. The Maryville, Tenn. native completed the year with a 3.67 GPA while working towards his degree in finance.

Sutton also competed in 15 rounds of action during the season limited to the spring only, concluding the year with a scoring average of 75.17. A native of Matthews, N.C., he excelled in the classroom with a 3.46 GPA working towards his business management degree.

Rounding out the Tech recipients was the veteran Womack, the team's only golfer to complete all 18 rounds for the purple and gold. He collected two All-Tournament honors while boasting a 73.22 scoring average on the year. The McMinnville, Tenn. native wrapped up the year with a 3.40 GPA while earning his bachelor's degree in business management.
