SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Another strong showing on the River Course at Sevierville Golf Club kept the Tennessee Tech men's golf team in third place at the eighth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate Monday.

The Golden Eagles posted a 288 in the second round of action in their home event, finishing the day with a 571 and just five shots back of the leader, Ohio Valley Conference foe UT Martin. The Skyhawks stopped at the top of the leaderboard after a 281, just edging another OVC squad, Morehead State, by one stroke for the lead with a 566.

UT Martin's Nick Wolf took over the individual lead with a 67 on the day and 135 overall score through two rounds.

Leading the way among the purple and gold golfers was senior Will Brooks. The Cookeville native, competing as an individual, matched his first-round score of 70 to sit at 140 overall among the 77 participants in a tie for sixth place.

Fresh off his first collegiate round of golf, an impressive 69 on Sunday, rookie Mark McDearman turned in another strong showing on Monday. The freshman carded an even-par 72, one of four Golden Eagles to do so on the day, finishing in a tie for ninth with a 141.

Just one shot back of the youngster was four-year veteran Bracton Womack. The senior tied for 11th with a 142 after also tallying a 72.

Sophomore Nick Sutton and junior Chance Taylor both tied for 19th on the leaderboard thanks to their second-straight days of even-par scoring. The pair totaled scores of 144 through the first two days of action.

Rounding out the Tech lineup was sophomore Sean Anderson, posting a 79 for a composite score of 151. He tied for 50th with teammate Dabney Dickenson. Competing as an individual like Brooks, the redshirt senior trimmed a shot off his first-round 76 for a 75 and total score of 151.

The final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate will begin Tuesday morning with tee times set to commence at 7:30 a.m. CT.
