Dillehay earns OVC Defensive Player of the Week honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - One day after making the game-winning interception-for-touchdown and leading the Golden Eagles in tackles, Tennessee Tech junior linebacker Dustin Dillehay was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

Dillehay had a team-high 14 tackles, including 10 solo stops against UT Martin in Tech's 35-28 win over the Skyhawks. But the biggest play of the game came when UT Martin cut Tech's lead to seven points and got the ball back, driving in an effort to tie the game. That's when Dillehay stepped in front of a Skyhawk pass and took it 41 yards the other way for a touchdown, putting the game out of reach with a 14 Tech lead point lead.

"Dustin is very deserving of this award," Tennessee Tech head coach Watson Brown said. "He made plays all game long, and when it came time for our defense to make a game-changing play, he's the one who stepped up and made that happen."

Dillehay's interception was his second this season, and he scored the first touchdown of his career.

Tech's senior quarterback Lee Sweeney also had a stellar performance against UT Martin. Sweeney threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns, and was the runner-up for the league's Offensive Player of the Week honor.
