Golden Eagles travel east for Great Smokies Intercollegiate

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Following last week's solid fifth-place showing at the Drake Creek Invitational, the Tennessee Tech women's golf team will look to improve upon its first action of the 2013-14 season as it heads east for the Great Smokies Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina.

The event, which takes place at the Waynesville Inn - Golf Resort & Spa, enters its 15th year, dating back to 1999. The Golden Eagles won the event in both 1999 and 2000 and will look to challenge again after having particpated in the event each of the past five seasons.Tech finished sixth in the tournament in 2012.

The par 72, 5,932 yard course will challenge a 12-team field that is expected to include at least 67 golfers in a 36-hole bout, beginning at 8 a.m. CDT on Monday, Sept. 16. Teams will play the Carolina and Blue Ridge courses, each nine-hole stretch part of the 27-hole course.
