CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - There will be plenty of time for reflection and game planning for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team before Tuesday's final round of the F&M APSU Intercollegiate as the event poses just 36 holes over two days.
And after the first day of play, the Golden Eagles sit just 12 strokes out of third place with plenty of golf yet to be played. Tech shot a 323 over the first 18 holes, finishing eighth out of 14 teams on day one.
Leading the way for the Tech bunch was freshman Whitney Robertson, who posted a first-round 77 to tie for 12th after completing her first career top 10 finish last week at the CSU Wendy's Invitational.
Sophomore Maddi Everts completed the first 18 holes of play with an 80, good enough to tie her for 31st overall out of 83 participants. Competing as an individual, fellow sophomore Allison Geer also posted a first-round 80 to tie for 31st.
Another sophomore made an impact for the Tech squad as Megan Williamson carded an 82 to tie for 44th. Freshmen Lydia Triplett and Haley Davidson rounded out the scoring on the day, shooting 84 and 87, respectively.
With still 18 more holes to go, Day Two of action will begin at the 5,960-yard, par-72 Clarksville Country Club with an 8:30 a.m. CDT shotgun start Tuesday morning.
