COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - One of the top golfers in the Ohio Valley Conference this season, Tech's Whitney Robertson was recognized as the Golden Eagle MVP as head coach Polk Brown announced the team's annual awards recently.

A freshman from Clarksville, Tenn., Robertson wasted no time making an impact on the Tech program, leading the Golden Eagles in scoring average with a mark of 78.12 on her way to OVC All-Newcomer Team honors. She tallied five top 10 and two top five finishes in 2013-14, collecting All-Tournament honors at the OVC Championships.

Robertson also took home the Low Average award for the team, in addition to sharing Tech's Impact Award with fellow freshman Lydia Triplett. A native of Benton, Tenn., Triplett was named as the team's Best Putter after starting all 11 events for the Golden Eagles.

Sophomore Maddi Everts was honored with three distinctions, earning the squad's Most Dedicated award after battling through minor injuries to post a 78.73 scoring average and card a 67, the lowest round of any Golden Eagle on the year. She also earned the Long Hitter award for averaging the greatest distance on her drives.

Fellow sophomore Allison Geer was named the Most Improved Player after knocking over three strokes off her scoring average from her freshman season. Geer played a crucial role in Tech's fifth place showing at the OVC Championships, pacing the Golden Eagles with a first-round 76 and finishing the even tied for 16th with an overall scorecard of 76-78-81=235.

Everts as well as sophomore Megan Williamson were named team captains by Brown, boasting over 100 combined rounds of experience through two seasons.
