COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It's time for the first tournament of the spring for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team as the Golden Eagles head to the southeast for the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. The Kiawah Island Classic.

For the sixth consecutive year, the College of Charleston will play host to event, featuring 36 teams for three, 18-hole rounds of golf at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C.

Tournament play will begin on Sunday, March 2, as each team will play 18 holes on either Oak Point or Cougar Point with double tee times from 9:45 a.m. - 12:06 p.m. Teams will play the opposite course on Monday, March 3, on an adjusted schedule from 9 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (in case of weather). The Top 19 teams will play for the championship at Cougar Point on Tuesday, March 4, while the other 17 teams will play a flight championship at Oak Point with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Arkansas State, Bethune Cookman, Boston College, Boston University, Bucknell, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, The Citadel, College of Charleston, Delaware, Elon, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgetown, High Point, Jacksonville State, Kent State, Loyola Chicago, Marshall, Newberry, Niagara, North Florida, Northern Kentucky, UNCG, Penn State, Radford, Richmond, Rutgers, Samford, St. John's, Tennessee Tech, Towson, Troy, USC Upstate, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, and Wyoming.

In the fall, the Golden Eagles grabbed two top five finishes and will look for another one in their second consecutive trip to the Kiawah Island Classic.

"We are very excited to begin this spring in Kiawah Island," said head coach Polk Brown. "We were able to play in this event last year and have been looking forward to going back ever since. The girls have been working very hard, and they are ready to compete.   The golf courses we are going to play will represent a great challenge, and I look forward to seeing some great golf.   Will be a great test to start the semester."
