MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - Through 36 holes, things are looking good for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team as the Golden Eagles sit in sixth place with plenty of room to move up at the CSU Wendy's Invitational.

The Tech squad battled an hour-long rain delay and near darkness towards the end of Round Two, but never buckled under the pressure, posting an opening-round score of 314 and topping that with a Round Two total of 298.

The Golden Eagles sit ahead of last year's tournament winner, Richmond, after improving from round-to-round at the prestigious Rivertowne Country Club. Playing 6,100 yards, the par-72 course took on large quantities of water throughout the day, but held up just long enough for all 13 teams to finish the second round.

Freshmen Whitney Robertson and Lydia Triplett have been outstanding through the first 36 holes, tying for eighth among 71 participants with two-round totals of 148. Robertson led Tech through Round One, carding a career-low 73. She followed that up with a solid performance in Round Two, posting a 75.

Triplett started off with a first-round 77, finishing second among the Golden Eagles in Round One. She immediately put the score out of her mind, blitzing the second 18 holes of action for a career-low 71.

Sophomore Maddi Everts wrapped up the first day of action with a much improved Round Two. After shooting a 79 to open the day, Everts created a strong amount of momentum for Day Two by carding a second-round score of 74. She now ranks tied for 19th and looks poised to post her second top 15 finish of the season.

Both Megan Williamson and Allison Geer showed signs of improvement from one round to the next, as each sophomore posted at least a four-stroke difference between the first and second rounds. Williamson finished the day with an 85-78=163 while Geer carded an 89-85=174.

Only three strokes out of third place, the Golden Eagles will look to climb the leaderboard over the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Day Two will begin with an 8 a.m. CDT shotgun as Tech and other 12 participants at the CSU Wendy's Invitational will hope to complete Round 3 despite threats of heavy rain.
