CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Youth has proved to be an advantage for the Tennessee Tech women's golf team this season, as freshman Whitney Robertson collected her second consecutive top 10 finish and the Golden Eagles placed eighth at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.

With no one above sophomore status, the young Tech squad has several promising years to look forward to. And the team has already shown flashes of brilliance throughout the early part of 2013-14 season.

Robertson tied for ninth at Clarksville Country Club, scoring 77-76=153 on the par-72, 5,960-yard course. It marked the third straight event that a Golden Eagle placed 15th or higher this year, and the fifth straight dating back to last season.

Sophomore Maddi Everts played a consistent two-round event, carding 80-80=160 to tie for 36th place out of 83 participants. Freshman Lydia Triplett and sophomore Megan Williamson each posted final marks of 163, tying for 40th overall and rounding out the scoring for the Golden Eagles. Triplett shot 84-77=161 while Williamson put together an 82-79=161.

As a team, the Tech bunch grabbed eighth place out of 14 teams with a 323-313=635 mark. The course proved to be tough as no team managed to crack a score of 600. The closest to the feat was tournament champ and Ohio Valley Conference foe Jacksonville State, which shot 314-293=607.

Freshman Haley Davidson made her first career appearance in the top five for the Golden Eagles, carding 87-87=174. Sophomore Allison Geer played particulary well as an individual, putting together an 80-79=159 to tie for 32nd.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up its fall schedule Monday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they head to the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational at the Old Fort Golf Course. Hosted by in-state rival Middle Tennessee, the tournament is set for an 8 a.m. CDT shotgun start.
