Slew of strong finishes highlight final day of Georgia Tech Invitational for Tech outdoor squad

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech outdoor track & field team delivered another strong round of results to close out the Georgia Tech Invitational Saturday afternoon, led by a few more personal records and impressive showings across the board.

Headlining the group was Paris Bowles, erupting for a huge PR in the 800-meter dash. The freshman blasted out of the gate for a new record of 2:15.77.

Amara Nwajagu continued her strong second season in the purple and gold, turning in a top-15 finish in the 400-meter dash. The sophomore raced to a time of 56.14 seconds before helping the 4x100-meter relay squad to an impressive performance.

Teaming up with Kategie Casseus, Tenae Minor, and Trenia Stephens, the group of four Golden Eagles turned in a time of 48.04 seconds to finish strong in the heat.

Also delivering an impressive showing in the 400-meter dash was rookie Malika Coutain. The freshman tallied a good run of 58.64 seconds for the purple and gold.

Competing in the triple jump, a pair of Golden Eagles turned in fantastic days of work. Veteran Jalena Curbeam rocked out to a seventh-place finish with a season-best mark of 11.64 meters (38'2.25"). Rookie Sidnee Stanton cracked the top-15, leaping to a distance of 11.19 meters (36'8.5").

Continuing the successful day for the purple and gold in the jumps, Cayla Johnson put forth an outdoor PR in the high jump. The junior put forth a seventh-place finish, clearing 1.60 meters (5'3").
