MURRAY, Ky. – It was a successful day for the Tennessee Tech outdoor track & field team Friday, as the Golden Eagles delivered a slew of impressive results at the OVC Trio Challenge, competing against Ohio Valley Conference rivals Murray State and Austin Peay.
Pacing the efforts in the one-day event at Roy Stewart Stadium and Marshall Gage Track were Britnie Dixon and Amanda Laboy, each collecting medalist honors on the day. Dixon raced to a personal-best mark to win the 800-meter, producing a time of 2:13.97. Shelby Udovich, Jadyn Norman, and Taylor Ward all collected PRs in the event as well.
Laboy claimed her victory in the 3,000-meter run, also turning in a personal record showing with a time of 10:30.52. She was followed closely behind by teammate Rahab Sawe, who finished second overall in the event with a personal-best performance of her own, clocking in at 10:31.92.
Kendall Medders captured a runner-up performance on the day as well, competing in the high jump. The sophomore leaped to a season-best and career-high-tying mark of 1.60 meters (5'3"). In the triple jump, Jalena Curbeam posted a third-place finish with a distance of 11.43 meters (37'6") while Jadae Joseph tallied a season-best jump of 10.77 meters (35'4").
Samaria Allen joined the jumpers with a season-best performance of her own, turning in a leap of 5.21 meters (17'1") in the long jump. Anya Akili produced her top showing of the season in the 100-meter hurdles, racing to a time of 15.34. Kategie Casseus delivered a PR in the 200-meter dash as well with a time of 25.95.
In the 300-meter dash, a trio of Golden Eagles contributed strong runs, including Amara Nwajagu (40.78), Trenia Stephens (41.34), and Diamond Rush (41.65), all finishing in the top-10. The team of Stephens, Nwajagu, Dixon, and Casseus combined for a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, closing things out with a time of 3:53.34.
A crew of the men's cross country team also competed as individuals at the event, taking part in the 3,000-meter run. Chase Faudi led the group, winning the event with a time of 8:44.70. Nick Beattie (third - 8:48.78), Robert Dawson (sixth - 8:51.27), Clayton Kirkus (seventh - 8:58.42), and Austin McCowan (12th - 9.59.34) all turned in PRs in the event while Miceal McCaul collected a fourth-place showing (8:48.91).
