TTU track & field heads to OVC Indoor Championships at TSU

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Tech track & field team heads to Nashville this weekend to compete in the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship meet.

Events on Friday will begin at 2:30 p.m. CT and the final Friday event will start at 6:40 p.m. Saturday action will start at 11 a.m. and the Championships will wra up at 3:45 p.m..

The Golden Eagles are one of 10 squads that will be competing and the Golden Eagles are sending 24 different student-athletes. Twelve Golden Eagles will be competing in the middle- and long-distance races, and the rest of the athletes will be split up between throws, sprints, hurdles, and jumping events.

Throughout the indoor regular season, the Golden Eagles have seen many athletes hit new personal bests, including opening the season with sophomore Chealsa Mills setting two school-records in the same meet.

Mills went 36 feet, 11.5 inches in the triple jump to eclipse the school record by one-half inch at the Southern Illinois Invitational in December. She then went on to clear 17 feet, 5.5 inches in the long jump that same day to beat the previous standard by three-quarters of an inch.

Event results will be posted during the meet by Tennessee State at the meet website (click here). Meet results will be posted at the end of each day on TTUsports.com. Fans will also be able to watch a live video webstream from the meet on the OVC Digital Network.
