COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech track and field team heads down I-40 to Nashville this weekend to continue their outdoor season as they compete at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold meet. Friday's events will start at 4 p.m. CDT and Saturday's portion of the meet will begin at 11:30 a.m.

The Golden Eagles opened their outdoor season at the Jacksonville State Gamecock Quad where they took third to Georgia State and host Jax State.

Erin Keyes started off her senior outdoor season with an improved high jump mark to 5-03, a new personal best. Keyes' height of 5-03 is currently enough for third-best in the Ohio Valley Conference.

In other jumping events, freshman Rebeca Duarte set a new best in the long jump with a distance of 16-01.50, and sophomore Atlanta Westbrook won the triple jump with a mark of 35-10.00.

Tech will look to keep improving on those marks and keep pushing forward to the future. The Vanderbilt Black & Gold meet is the second of five outdoor meets the Golden Eagles will participate in before heading to the OVC Outdoor Championships, which will be held in Edwardsville, Ill. on the campus of SIU Edwardsville.
