Golden Eagles get outdoor season started Saturday at Jax State

By Jocelyn VerVelde, TTU Sports Information Coordinator

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech track and field team starts their outdoor season this Saturday as they head to Jacksonville State for the Gamecock Quad Meet. They will take on Georgia State, North Alabama and host JSU. Field events will start at 11 a.m. CT, with running event starting at noon.

The Golden Eagles head to JSU following a promising indoor season that was chock-full of personal improvement. The indoor season opened with two school-record breaking performances from sophomore Chelsea Mills, one in the triple jump and one in the long jump, and as the season wrapped up during the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship, 10 different career-bests were set.

Tech will look to keep improving on those marks and open the outdoor season strong at JSU. The Gamecock Quad Meet is the first of six outdoor meets the Golden Eagles will participate in before heading to the OVC Outdoor Championships, which will be held in Edwardsville, Ill. on the campus of SIU Edwardsville.
