COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech track & field team hits the road this weekend as it heads to Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State to participate in the Tennessee State Invitational on Saturday with events starting at 8 a.m. CT.

This meet will provide a chance for the Golden Eagles to check out some OVC competition as Austin Peay, Belmont, Murray State, and host Tennessee State will all be sending athletes to the event. The meet will include 30-plus teams from across the southeast, and will give the Golden Eagles some experience on the Wilma Rudolph Indoor Track before TSU plays host to the 2014 OVC Indoor Championships.

So far through two indoor meets this season, the Golden Eagles have registered 14 different personal records, including two school records from Chelsea Mills. Mills went 36 feet, 11.5 inches in the triple jump  at the Southern Illinois Invitational to eclipse the school record by one-half inch. She then cleared 17 feet, 5.5 inches in the long jump to beat the previous standard by three-quarters of an inch.

The Golden Eagles will be sending 23 athletes to compete in the meet this weekend.
