EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Tennessee Tech fought its way into the Ohio Valley Conference win column, taking a 3-0 victory in the second game against SIUE.

Tech won the nightcap 3-0 behind a pitching victory by Kaylan Cole, while the host Cougars took the game one victory 2-0.

Cole completed the shutout, going the distance as she yielded just three hits, walking two and striking out two. The game was scoreless – with SIUE pitching a no-hitter -- until the top of the seventh as the Golden Eagles scored all of their runs in the frame.

Ella Bishop led off the seventh with a single, then Haeli Bryson reached on a fielder's choice as the SIUE defense erased Bishop on a 6-4 play. A wild pitch moved Bryson into scoring position, then Nicolle Nysted hit a double into right field to break the scoreless tie as Bryson came home. Pinch-runner Bailee Stack scored as Savannah Talley hit a double the opposite way, then Jordan Key put Tristen Head across on a single to right.

Rylie Pindel took the loss as she fell to 4-3 on the season, allowing three of Tech's five hits – all in the seventh inning – walking one and striking out three. Kelsey Ray threw the final two-thirds of an inning to try to do damage control, but yielded two more hits and struck out one.

The Golden Eagles were also held to two hits in game one as Sydney Baalman threw a complete game, walking one and striking out eight. Abby Shoulders and Talley had the Tech hits in the game.

Callie Piper took the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks, while striking out one.

SIUE scored both of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning with a single up the middle for one and a ground out to second to push across the other.

Tech concludes the series on Sunday afternoon, starting at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).
