AUBURN, Ala. – Weather shortened the schedule on Friday as the Tennessee Tech softball team just saw one game on Friday with South Alabama topping the Golden Eagles 9-0 in six innings on the first day of Auburn's Jane B. Moore Memorial tournament.
Tech (1-11) was held to two hits in the contest as Abby Shoulders picked up a double in the first frame, while Jordan Key also had a hit with a single to left in the second.
Callie Piper took the loss, allowing seven runs – six earned – on six hits across five-and-a-third, walking three and striking out one. Avery Flatford allowed two runs as she walked four and had three wild pitches in one-third of an inning, while Gracelyn Woollen threw one-third, retiring her only batter faced.
Tech faces Bowling Green on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., then faces tournament host Auburn at 5:30 p.m., before closing out the tournament with South Alabama at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday followed by another meeting with Bowling Green.
