ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Tennessee Tech softball team will make its first trip ever to Lindenwood to take on the Lions in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference set.

 

Saturday's doubleheader is slated for a noon start, while there will also be a single game on Sunday at noon.

 

Lindenwood enters the weekend with a 6-17 record, including an 0-5 mark in the OVC. Tennessee State swept the Lions 14-1, 7-1 and 4-2, then fell twice at Southern Indiana, with the first game on Saturday wiped out. The Screaming Eagles won 8-0 and 7-4.

 

The Lions also dropped a 15-3 midweek decision to Saint Louis.

 

As a team, Lindenwood is batting .226 with 54 runs driven in, while outscored 138-65. Irelynn West leads Lindenwood in average with a .373 mark, while Mya Bethany and Tori Hatton each have driven in a team-high 10 runs. Lauren Pelton and Morgan Gersch have the Lions' two home runs.

 

Amanda Weyh leads the Lions in the circle with a 3-5 record and 3.04 earned run average, while Avery Wapp  (0-4, 5.06 ERA) leads the team in strikeouts with 50. Keighlan Cronin (2-6, 6.26 ERA) and Molly Heidrick (1-0, 11.34 ERA) have also earned wins in the circle.

 

It's Tech's first meeting all-time against the Lions. Lindenwood finished 35-13 last year and 21-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

 

Tech went 2-3 last week, sweeping a doubleheader against Western Illinois, then falling in all three games to Morehead State – 7-3, 8-1 and 9-7.

 

Carmen Betts leads the team with a .328 average, while Haeli Bryson has a team-high 18 RBI. Betts, Bryson, Kaylan Cole, Savannah Talley and Makayli Harris each have one home run.

 

Callie Piper (2-11, 7.08 ERA), Gracelyn Woollen (0-3, 8.18 ERA) and Cole (1-9, 10.24 ERA) will see action in the circle for the Golden Eagles this weekend.

 

Tech returns home on Wednesday as it takes on Bellarmine for a single game at 3 p.m.
