Golden Eagles fall in midweek contest at Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb had a pair of batters drive in four runs each as the Tennessee Tech softball team took a five-inning, 14-0 loss to the Bisons on Tuesday night in Nashville.

Pinch-hitter Tori Womack hit a grand slam in the third inning and stayed in for the rest of the contest, while Jack Busch drove in four runs on 2-for-4 hitting.

Emily Yakubowski collected the victory in the circle, improving to 10-8 on the season as she allowed one hit and one walk while striking out three in her two innings of work. Macey Ogle threw the final three frames, yielding two hits and four walks.

Haeli Bryson drew three of the five walks, while Jordan Key had two of Tech's three hits in the contest, the other coming off of Abby Shoulders' bat.

Gracelyn Woollen was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs on five hits in the first inning, walking two. Callie Piper threw the next inning-and-a-third, allowing seven runs on four hits and four walks, while Kaylan Cole closed out the final inning-and-two-thirds, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks. Cole also struck out three.

Tech (3-31) returns to action on Friday as the Golden Eagles head to UT Martin for an OVC series for the Easter weekend.
