ST. CHARLES, Mo. – It was a close battle in both contests Saturday, but it was Ohio Valley Conference newcomer Lindenwood who collected two victories, edging Tech 4-2 and 3-2 at the Lou Brock Complex.

In the first game, Callie Piper took the loss as she allowed four runs on nine hits in the complete game effort, walking two and striking out one. Her counterpart, Amanda Weyh, collected her fourth win of the season as she allowed two Tech runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Lindenwood took the lead on a three-run first inning as Irelynn West, Chloe Honchar and Whitney Kinser each picked up RBI singles. The Lions extended their lead in the bottom of the third as Honchar drove in another run on a double.

Tech scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings as Savannah Talley drove in Sarah Livingston on a single to left, then, an inning later, Abby Buettner took a 2-0 count yard as she knocked a ball over the fence.

It wasn't the Golden Eagles' only home run of the day as Makayli Harris hit her second round-tripper in the top of the seventh. Harris also gave Tech its first run of the second contest as her double allowed Ella Bishop to score.

Lindenwood tied the game at one run each in the bottom of the sixth as Lauren Pelton drove in Mya Bethany on a single to center field. Harris' home run put Tech back on top in the seventh.

However, the Lions were able to put the tying run aboard on Theresa Snaidauf's single, then Morgan Gersch put down a bunt single and Bethany dropped a single into right field to load the bases with non-one out. West came through with a walk-off double as Snaidauf and Gersch scored.

Gracelyn Woollen dropped to 0-4 on the season, allowing three runs on seven hits, walking four and striking out two. Avery Wapp picked up the victory, improving to 1-3 as she allowed two runs on six hits, walking one and striking out four.

Tech (3-25, 0-5 OVC) closes out the three-game set at Lindenwood on Sunday with a single game set for 12 p.m.
