COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the finish line of the regular season inching closer and closer, the Tennessee Tech tennis team will head to Nashville for a Friday battle at Tennessee State in the second to last match of the year. Tech's tangle with the Tigers is set to begin at 12 p.m. CT.

A look at Tennessee Tech

The Golden Eagles (7-5, 3-0 OVC) enter the in-state clash on the heels of a perfect homestand that saw the purple and gold knock off Jacksonville State on Apr. 3 and UAB on Apr. 4. Tech's two-step over the state of Alabama pushed the club's current winning streak to seven straight, highlighted by a perfect 3-0 beginning to conference play. The Golden Eagles are undefeated against non "Power 5" schools this spring.

Singles play has helped catapult Tech to its recent surge thanks to a combined 22-2 solo mark over the last four matches. Overall, Elias Grubert and Andre Rodeia have the most singles wins with seven apiece. The pair joins Mika Berghaus and Rafael Tosetto as the four Golden Eagles who are a perfect 3-0 in singles action during conference play.

As far as doubles play is concerned, the TTU tandem of Evzen Holis and Jun Sasagawa have proven to be the most formidable duo with a club-best five wins this season.

The Tigers (0-9, 0-2 OVC) are winless in 2021, but are coming off a season-high two points scored in the club's last contest in a 5-2 loss at Eastern Illinois on Apr. 3. Stefan Koruga and Oliwer Wierzbicki picked up victories during singles play to account for TSU's par of points.

Diego Britt-Alvarez is responsible for the club's other two points with singles nods vs. Austin Peay on Mar. 20 and UAB on Feb. 24.

Inside the Series

Tennessee Tech is undefeated in the all-time set with the Tigers, holding a perfect 32-0 record. The Golden Eagles have dropped only five total points in the series. TTU claimed a 7-0 victory in the last meeting on Apr. 17, 2019 in Cookeville.
