CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Another narrow nod for the Tennessee Tech tennis team, as the Golden Eagles collected a 4-3 win at Chattanooga Tuesday night for the club's third consecutive victory, all by 4-3 margins. Tech's tightly-contested triumph snaps UTC's four-match winning streak since the calendar flipped to March.

After the Mocs (4-6) squared the affair at 3-3 following a Kerim Hyatt 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 win over Elias Grubert in the No. 3. spot, all eyes shifted to the No. 1 battle pitting Carlos Vicente against Tomas Rodriguez with the fate of the match settling in the duo's hands.

Vicente captured the first set, 7-5. Rodriguez countered with a 6-4 win in the second. With everything on the line in the third, Tech's top singles competitor came through swimmingly with a 6-2 victory to seize the clash, and in the process, the match.

Vicente's triumph was one of four during singles action, as the Golden Eagles (3-5) soared at the bottom of the lineup. Rafael Tosetto seized the No. 4 get-together behind a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jeffrey Dewald, while Andre Rodeia notched a 6-4, 6-4 nod against Simon Labbe in the No. 5 meeting and Jun Sasagawa picked up a 6-4-, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Peyton Gatti out of the No. 6 slot.

Sasagawa's triumph marked the first singles win this season for the Cremorne, Australia native, who entered the match 0-1 during solo play on the year.

Turner Voges joined Hyatt in the win column for the Mocs during singles action with a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Evzen Holis in the No. 2 position.

Chattanooga took the early lead in the contest after capturing the doubles point thanks to wins in two of the three matchups. Voges and Labbe carded a 6-2 nod over Vicente and Mika Berghaus in the No. 2 spot, while Kerim Hyatt and Jeffrey Dewald claimed a 7-6 win against Elias Grubert and Rafael Tosetto in the No. 3 battle.

Tech's top tandem of Jun Sasagawa and Evzen Holis powered past Tomas Rodriguez and Peyton Gatti, 6-4.

With three straight wins under their belt, the Golden Eagles will begin OVC play with a Friday showdown at Belmont. First serve in Nashville is slated for 1 p.m. CT.
