COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech returning freshman Evzen Holis made it back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference Male Tennis Athlete of the Week honors for the Golden Eagles, earning his second honor of the season Wednesday afternoon.

Teammate Carlos Vicente captured a share of the league's weekly accolade last week. Overall, this marks the third time this year a member of the purple and gold has taken home the honor, with Holis hauling in the first one back on Mar. 10.

Holis also took home an OVC Male Tennis Athlete of the Week last season as a true freshman before the remainder of the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Brno, Czech Republic native went a perfect 2-0 during the week while helping propel the Golden Eagles to a decisive, 7-0 victory over Eastern Illinois in OVC play. Pairing with teammate Jun Sasagawa in the No. 1 doubles position, the two defeated the Panthers' Karan Srivastava and Pau Riera 6-2 to help Tech secure the first point of the match.

Holis followed it up with a quick and dominant win in the No. 2 singles position, defeating Leighton Brandon in straight sets. The Golden Eagle second-year man won 6-1, 6-1 to help Tech blank EIU, move to 2-0 in OVC play and win its fifth-consecutive match.

Tech is set to continue the 2020-21 campaign with a pair of matches this weekend, starting with an OVC tilt against Jacksonville State on Saturday, Apr. 3 at 1:00 p.m. CT. The Golden Eagles will also host UAB, doing battle in a 1:00 p.m. match-up on Sunday, Apr. 4.
