CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team stuck to its winning ways Saturday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles proved to be too much for Eastern Illinois to handle in a 7-0 win at Darling Courts. Tech (5-5, 2-0 OVC) has now claimed five consecutive victories, including back-to-back nods to begin OVC play.

Singles play was quite kind to the purple and gold, with all six matchups resulting in a TTU straight-set win. Rafael Tosetto paved the way with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Charles Courteau out of the No. 4 position, while Evzen Holis and Elias Grubert were nearly as impressive behind a Holis 6-1, 6-1 victory against Leighton Brandon in the No. 2 spot and a Grubert 6-2, 6-0 win over Christos Kyrillou in the No. 3 clash.

Carlos Vicente did his part in the top singles affair with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Karan Srivastava, and Tech's pair of freshmen at the bottom of the order took care of business as well. Andre Rodeia carded a 6-2, 6-4 nod over Pau Riera in the No. 5 battle and Mike Berghaus secured a 6-1, 6-4 win against Cameron Slabbert in the No. 6 spot.

Tech took the tilt's early edge over the Panthers (2-11, 0-2 OVC) with a strong showing in doubles play thanks to wins in both completed bouts. The Tech tandem of Jun Sasagawa and Evzen Holis soared past Karan Srivastava and Pau Riera, 6-2, in the No. 1 position and the Golden Eagle duo of Elias Grubert and Andre Rodeia did the same with a 6-2 victory against Charles Courteau and Leighton Brandon in the No. 3 slot.

The No. 2 matchup pitting Rafael Tosetto and Carlos Vicente against Thomas Wallace and Christos Kyrillou did not finish.

With five consecutive wins in their back pocket, the Golden Eagles will set their sights on a home contest with Jacksonville State on Saturday, Apr. 3.
