COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – There was reason for the Tennessee Tech tennis team to celebrate its home opener Thursday afternoon. Playing in Cookeville for the first time in over a calendar year, the Golden Eagles proved it was worth the wait thanks to a narrow, 4-3 victory over Radford for Tech's second consecutive win.

Fresh off a 4-3 nod Sunday at Kennesaw State, the Golden Eagles (2-5) used a similar script toward success that featured clinching the doubles point and three wins during singles action.

Carlos Vicente secured his second consecutive triumph out of the No. 1 spot, knocking off Yevhen Sirous, 7-5, 6-3, to help pave the way for the purple and gold. Elias Grubert also picked up a second straight victory behind a 6-4, 1-6, 6-0 over Konstantinos Raptis out of the No. 4 position, while Andre Rodeia rounded out Tech's singles success with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Andres Silva in the No. 5 battle.

The Highlanders (3-3) picked up three singles wins of their own behind a Demis Taramonlis 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory against Evzen Holis in the No. 2 clash, a Guilherme Severin 6-4, 6-1 triumph against Rafael Tosetto in the No. 3 slot and an Aditya Balsekar 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 nod over Mika Berghaus in the No. 6 affair.

The Golden Eagles soared their way to the doubles point thanks to wins in all three matchups. The top tandem of Evzen Holis and Jun Sasagawa picked off Yevhen Sirous and Guilherme Severin, 6-4, while Carlos Vicente and Andre Rodeia claimed a 7-6 (8) victory against Demis Taramonlis and Andres Silva in the No. 2 position and Rafael Tosetto and Elias Grubert earned a 6-1 win over Konstantinos Raptis and William Crane in the No. 3 get-together.

Tech will be right back at it with a Friday meeting at Lipscomb. First serve in Nashville is set for 1 p.m. CT.
