COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team takes a brief break from its road stretch of seven out of eight games away from Cookeville, returning home to host in-state rival Lipscomb in a Tuesday tilt at Quillen Field and Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT with the contest slated to be streamed on ESPN+ with Dylan Vazzano on the call.

Tech enters the contest after finishing 1-2 over the weekend at Southeastern Louisiana. The Golden Eagles dropped a heart-breaking, 10-inning affair on Friday, with starter Peyton Calitri taking a no-hitter into the eighth. The Lions stole home to tied the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and scored the game-winning run on a fielder's choice after a Tech double-play to end the frame was overturned on review.

After falling 8-2 in the second match-up the purple and gold bounced back with a monster, 18-4 victory in the series finale. Tech dropped 11 runs in the first, the first time scoring double figures to open a contest since scoring 10 at Morehead State on Mar. 15, 2014, and the most in the Matt Bragga era (first or second).

The Golden Eagles pace the Ohio Valley Conference with a .338 batting average and 180 hits and rank second in on-base percentage, RBI, and runs scored, and third in slugging percentage and home runs. The Tech pitching staff ranks second in team ERA and opposing batting average.

Lipscomb enters the match-up after falling in three, weekend contests at No. 18 Georgia, 8-3, 9-2, and 9-5. The Bisons rank second in the Atlantic Sun Conference in batting average with a mark of .286. The team ranks eighth in its league with a 5.58 ERA.
