Tennessee Tech Baseball Midweek Preview (Feb. 22)
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team will get its first taste of midweek action Tuesday afternoon, heading east down I-40 for an in-state match-up with No. 16 Tennessee at 3:30 p.m. CT in Knoxville.
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend with an unblemished, 3-0 record after sweeping play at the South Alabama Invitational over the weekend. Tech outscored opponents 26-14, producing a .271 batting average and 3.33 ERA as a team.
Welcoming back head coach Matt Bragga for his second stint as the leader of the Tech program, the purple and gold earned victories over Oral Roberts, Radford, and host South Alabama. In the tournament, Bragga picked up the 500th victory of his Division I coaching career.
The Vols are coming off of a weekend sweep of Georgia Southern in Lindsey Nelson Stadium, outscoring the Eagles by a whopping 33-3 margin. As a unit, Tennessee hit .330 while the pitching staff spun a pair of shutouts and a collective 1.00 ERA.
