BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech shortstop Ed Johnson was recognized as the co-Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in his career as announced by the league on Monday, sharing the honor with Belmont's Brodey Heaton.

In four road games, Johnson hit .500 (9-for-18) with six runs, three doubles, seven RBI, a .667 slugging percentage, and .526 on-base percentage. After going hitless against Kentucky and in the opening game of the Murray State series, Johnson was 9-for-12 in the last two games against the Racers, as Tennessee Tech won both games to move up to the No. 6 seed for the OVC Tournament.

Johnson was 4-for-6 with three runs scored, a double, and three RBI as the Golden Eagles won 15-8 on Friday. On Saturday he was 5-for-6 with three runs scored, two doubles, and four RBI in a 15-3 Tech victory.

The shortstop ranks second in the OVC in hits (1.65/game), fourth in runs scored (1.08/game), fifth in batting (.366), and sixth in total bases (2.56/game).

Tech will return to action in the first round of the OVC Tournament in Lexington, Ky. with an 11:30 a.m. CT contest against Murray State on Wednesday.
