CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Tennessee Tech wrapped up the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference women's Track & Field Championship on a high note, setting a school record in the 4x400 meter relay in the final race of the afternoon Saturday at Southeast Missouri.

Tech earned two points in the race with a seventh place finish, and closed the two-day meet with eight points for ninth place overall.

Defending champion Eastern Illinois pulled out another title with 179.5 points, after coming into the final day trailing host Southeast Missouri. The Redhawks settled for second place with 170 points. Murray State (112) narrowly edged Jacksonville State (111) for third place.

Eastern Kentucky (77) placed fifth, followed by Tennessee State (55.5), Austin Peay (51), Morehead State (16) and Tennessee Tech (8).

Tech had entries in only six events Saturday, but came up with season-best efforts in three in addition to the school record in the finale.

Sophomore Kelli Keck had a season-best in the triple jump, missing her career-best by only half an inch when she went 35 feet, 10 inches to place 12th.

In the shot put, junior Madison Borden also placed 12th in tossing her season-best with a throw of 39 feet.

The 4x100 relay foursome also notched its season-best mark, finishing seventh in the time of 49.23.

In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Kara Webb was the team's first across the line, finishing 12th in the time of 4:52.21. Leah Bradley was  14th in 4:59.94 and Traci Jones placed 17th in 5:11.89.

Rebecca Cline continued to log the longest races of the meet, covering the 5,000-meter run in 20:18.10 for an 18th place finish.

The school record fell in the 4x400-meter relay as Dalis Connell, Jenna Philpott, Emily Weinzetl and Brooklyn Kimball placed seventh in the time of 3:56.84. It broke the record by three seconds which had been in the books since 2003.
