Tech runs at Vanderbilt Invitational Friday evening, Saturday

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech track & field team will compete in the Vanderbilt Invitational this weekend, with seven events planed for Friday evening and the balance of the meet resuming Saturday morning. Coach Tony Cox will take 24 women along with four men's cross country members to the meet.

FIeld events get underway Friday at 3 p.m. while the running competition begins at 5 p.m. Kelli Keck is Tech's lone entry in the long jump, while several Golden Eagles are entered in the javelin and shot put. Tech's javelin entries are Lacy Yslas, Haley Wennerstrom and Rebecca Forbes, while the shot put will include Yslas, Madison Borden and Margarett Holder.

Four runners will compete Friday night in the 200-meter dash, including Keck, Brittany Cotto, Brooklyn Kimball and Elisa Tanksley. Five Golden Eagles are scheduled for the 1,500-meter run, incuding Leah Bradley, Kara Webb, Traci Jones, Kathryn Forbes and Brittney Brown. The 5,000-meter run, scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, will include Rebecca Cline Meghan O'Donoghue and Kathryn Forbes.

Cox will have two runners in the men's 1,500-meter run with Mike Mahan and Adam McLeod. Later in the evening, Mahan, Daniel Francis, Sterling Smith and Kolbe Andrzewski will run the 5,000-meter event.

Saturday's schedule begins with field events at 10 a.m., while running events get underway at noon. The meet wraps up with the 4x400-meter relay at 4 p.m.
