NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Eight more career-best marks were set
Saturday by Tennessee Tech women during the second day of the
Vanderbilt Invitational. On Friday, members of the women's track
& field team set nine personal marks.
Early Saturday afternoon, six Golden Eagle runners beat their
previous best times in the same event, the purple-tinted 800-meter
run. Senior Emily
Weinzetl led the way, finishing in 20th place with a
time of 2:19.27, just a couple seconds off the school record
time.
Trailing her in the event with PR times were Jenna Philpott
(2:22.58), Leah
Bradley (2:23.68) and Kara Webb
(2:23.81). A little further back, also beating their career-best,
were Dalis
Connell (2:29.76) and Kendale
Caldwell (2:31.39).
Connell also posted a PR in the 400-meter dash, running a time
of 1:01.40. She finished between teammates Brooklyn
Kimball (1:01.30) and Brittany Cotto
(1:02.50), who were just off their career-best times.
The discus also produced a PR as Madison Borden
launched a toss of 136 feet, two inches to finish in seventh place
for Tech's highest showing of the day. Lacy Yslas was in
eight place with a throw of 133 feet.
The Golden Eagles will be in Clarksville, Tenn., on Thursday to compete in Austin Peay's Showdown on the Cumberland (meet was originally scheduled for Friday but has been moved to Thursday). It will be Tech's final meet before the Ohio Valley Conference championships, May 4-5.
