INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Competing in its first year within a new conference, the Tennessee Tech tennis team made its imprint in regards to postseason accolades behind the selection of two Golden Eagles to the All-Horizon League squads.

Mika Berghaus reserved a spot on the All-Horizon League first team for his second-consecutive campaign on a conference all-first team, while Elias Grubert picked up All-Horizon League second team recognition for his fourth straight year receiving postseason accolades.

Berghaus, who spent the entire spring as Tech's No. 1 singles competitor, put together a stellar league season in which he went 8-1. Overall, the Cologne, Germany product's 10 solo nods this spring paced the purple and gold, while his 7-2 doubles mark during conference action also bested the Golden Eagles. The 6-foot-1 junior, who earned an All-OVC first-team honor last season, went 9-1 in his last 10 regular season singles battles.

Grubert, the reigning OVC Player of the Year and a four-time all-conference recipient, spent the majority of the season as TTU's No. 2 singles player where he went 7-2 during Horizon League action. Overall, the Parana, Argentina native's nine solo nods during the regular season were second most on the club and his 4-2 tandem record during conference play was among the best by a Golden Eagle.

Berghaus, Grubert and the rest of the purple and gold are gearing up for their first ever Horizon League Men's Tennis Championship over the weekend. As the league's South Division No. 2 seed, Tech will contend with the conference's North Division No. 3 seed Northern Kentucky in the quarterfinals on Friday. A Golden Eagle win over the Norse would put TTU in the semifinals where they would square off with North Division top seed Cleveland State on Saturday. The championship match in the single-elimination tournament is slated for Sunday.
