NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech tennis team got back to its winning ways Sunday afternoon, as the Golden Eagles secured a 5-2 victory at Tennessee State to snap a two-match weekend skid.

Following back-to-back road defeats at No. 28 Middle Tennessee on Friday and Belmont on Saturday, the Golden Eagles (5-13, 5-2 HL) came out swinging with a pair of double triumphs that led the purple and gold to the tandem point. Tech's top duo of Elias Grubert and Paulo Ramos Martin registered a 6-3 win over Taj Hibbert and Diego Britt-Alvarez and the Golden Eagle pair of Mika Berghaus and Pol Masafret collected a 6-1 triumph against Jonasz Dziopak and Nicholas Adamec in the No. 3 bout to help lead TTU to the early edge.

The No. 2 matchup of Evzen Holis and Jaime Paquet against Pierre Copin and Nil Moinet did not finish with Holis and Paquet leading 4-3 at the time it was called.

Tech carried its doubles success over the Tigers (10-13, 6-3 HL) into solo action with wins in four-of-six showdowns. The Golden Eagles picked up a pair of victories at the top behind a Mika Berghaus 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 nod against Jonasz Dziopak in the No. 1 position and an Elias Grubert 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 decision over Nil Moinet in the No. 2 clash.

TTU's back of the lineup also excelled to the tune of two wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 matchups. Paulo Ramos Martin knocked off Pierre Copin 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 5 meeting, while Jaime Paquet picked up a 6-2, 4-2 victory against Nicholas Adamec in a battle that saw Adamec retire late in the second set.

TSU's pair of points came within the middle of the singles lineup thanks to a Taj Hibbert 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 nod over Evzen Holis in the No. 3 tangle and a Diego Britt-Alvarez 6-4, 6-2 victory against Pol Masafret in the No. 4 get-together.

The Golden Eagles will close out the regular season with one final homestand, as TTU will welcome Eastern Illinois to town on Saturday, Apr. 22 and Lindenwood to Cookeville on Sunday, Apr. 23. Tech's tussle with EIU is slated to start at 1 p.m. CT, while the contest with Lindenwood is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Admission to both matches at Tech Tennis Courts is free of charge.
