BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's basketball forward Jerome Beya was named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week Monday afternoon after helping the Golden Eagles to two more league victories last weekend.

It marked the third such honor for the Golden Eagle squad and the first of Beya's career. Rookie guard Grant Strong took home the honor twice, on Nov. 14 and again on Dec. 27.

Beya averaged 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks over the two Tech victories, playing 13 minutes per game and making his time on the court count. In the Golden Eagles' 79-62 triumph over Morehead State, the forward chipped in two points, two blocks, and a rebound in just under 10 minutes of action off the bench.

The Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo native followed it up with a career-high-tying six points against Tennessee State, helping the purple and gold to a 71-63 win while making his second start of the year. Beya finished 3-for-5 from the floor while snagging four rebounds in just under 17 minutes of play.

The purple and gold have now won four straight OVC contests, a first since the 2015-16 campaign. It also marks Tech's first four-game winning streak of any kind since the 2017-18 season.

The Golden Eagles will look to continue their winning ways with their first-ever trip to new league foe Little Rock next Thursday. Tip is slated for a 7:30 p.m. CT start. Tech will follow it up with a visit to Cape Girardeau, Mo. and a 4:00 p.m. match-up at Southeast Missouri on Saturday.
