COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's basketball team will hit the road for its first out-of-state tilt of the 2022-23 campaign, squaring off with Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. CT.

Fans can follow the action via radio on 106.1 The Eagle with Dylan Vazzano on the call or stream the game on ESPN+. The contest will mark the first of two for Tech as part of the Herd Run Hoops Jam presented by Tarkett Sports multi-team event. The Golden Eagles will host Coppin State Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. as part of the event as well.

Marshall dropped its season opener last Monday, falling to Queens of Charlotte on the road in a nail-biter, 83-82. The Thundering Herd led for most of the second half, but Queens picked up the go-ahead layup with nine seconds to play.

Tech and Marshall have squared off four times in program history with all four contests coming between 1950 and 1952. The Herd owns a 3-1 lead in the series, including a 2-0 advantage at home. The lone win for the Golden Eagles came back in 1950, a 74-70 victory at home. Marshall won the most recent affair, 59-56, in Cookeville during the 1951-52 campaign.

After falling in its season opener at No. 11 Tennessee last Monday, the Golden Eagles answered back with a huge, 82-48 win over Tennessee Wesleyan in the team's home opener on Thursday. Tied at the break with the Bulldogs, the purple and gold exploded for a 51-17 advantage in the second half.

Graduate transfer Jaylen Sebree flirted with a triple-double to lead the Tech effort, settling for a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double with seven assists and three steals. South Dakota transfer Erik Oliver paced the scoring results for the game, dropping 19 on 7-for-8 shooting with a pair of assists and three rebounds.

Lafayette transplant Ty Perry produced 12 points with five helpers and a team-high five steals. Local Celina native and Clay County HS product Grant Strong scored his first collegiate points on the night, finishing with 11 and five assists.
