COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech men's basketball team hits the road for the first time in over a week, making the trek north to Highland Heights, Ky. for a Sunday matinee with Northern Kentucky. Tip is slated for a 1:00 p.m. CT start.

Fans can follow the action via radio on 106.1 The Eagle with Roger Ealey on the call or stream the game on ESPN+.

The Norse have turned in a 2-4 record on the year, dropping each of their last three contests, all part of the Florida Gulf Coast Showcase. NKU fall 82-61 to host FGCU on Monday before dropping a 60-56 tilt against UT Arlington on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Toledo bested the Norse, 82-69.

Northern Kentucky owns a marquee win on the season, defeating Cincinnati 64-51 while hosting the Bearcats for the first time in program history back on Nov. 16. The team's other victory this year came against UC Clermont.

Sunday's affair represents just the second meeting between the two programs all time, with the Norse leading the series 1-0. The only previous match-up went to NKU in Highland Heights, 74-65, back on Dec. 3, 2020.

The Golden Eagles head into Sunday's tilt riding back-to-back victories in the comfort of the Hooper Eblen Center, besting in-state rival ETSU last Sunday before cruising to an 84-48 victory over Truett McConnell on Tuesday.

Graduate guard Ty Perry led the scoring effort for the purple and gold over the Bears on Tuesday, finishing a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 4-for-4 from distance for 14 points. Junior guard Erik Oliver turned in 12 points on 5-for-7 efficiency.

Twelve of the 14 Golden Eagles to see action in the contest scored at least one point. Junior guard Brett Thompson flirted with a double-double thanks to nine points and a game-high eight assists. He also racked up a season-high four steals.

Diante Wood, Grant Strong, and Grant Slatten each contributed eight points off the bench, with Strong leading the team with seven rebounds. He added three assists as well while Slatten turned in a pair of steals.
