Golden Eagle coaching staff adds Louisville’s Davis to ’16 signing class

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech football signing class of 2016, already an impressive list of future stars under new coach Marcus Satterfield, has gotten another boost with the addition of one more name.

Clay Davis, a safety/linebacker from Louisville, Ky., will join the Golden Eagle roster and enroll in a business management curriculum. He is the son of Joy and Lonnie Davis.

A standout student-athlete at Louisville Christian Academy, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Davis is a versatile and veteran player who capped off his senior season with both All-State and Academic All-State recognition.

Twice honored as an Academic All-State pick, Davis was named as an all-district wide receiver as a junior and added all-district and honorable mention All-State as a senior at the linebacker position. He also accepted the Centurion Award this past season.

Joining the Tech program as a projected safety/linebacker, he brings impressive numbers from his prep career. From his linebacker spot, Davis recorded 136 career tackles. As a receiver, he accounted for 73 catches for 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Davis joins a class that now numbers 22 signees for Satterfield’s staff.
