Golden Eagle Blackout IV set for October 17 vs. Jacksonville State

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Now in its fourth year, Tennessee Tech's annual "blackout" game has become one of the school's most popular traditions.

Tech will host Golden Eagle Blackout IV on Saturday night, Oct. 17, when coach Watson Brown's team hosts Jacksonville State in Tucker Stadium. Last year, the "blackout magic" helped the Golden Eagles stun No. 12 Eastern Kentucky with a 39-31, come-from-behind Tech victory.

The team will wear its now-familiar black uniforms that were first introduced in 2012 at the first Golden Eagle Blackout.

All Golden Eagle fans are encouraged to wear black, as well.

In addition, the first 2,500 fans into the stadium will receive a free, specially designed Golden Eagle Blackout IV tee shirt.

"The Blackout t-shirts have been the most popular we have ever done," said Mark Wilson, Director of Athletics. "I have seen people wearing the Golden Eagle Blackout shirts all over town for three years, now. We're hoping this year's shirt will be just as well-received, and fans will really get on board and rally behind the football team with this event."

While the team will be wearing black, Golden Eagle fans are asked to wear black to the stadium for a complete "blackout" experience when Tech hosts the Gamecocks in an Ohio Valley Conference contest.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m. and official activities in the 98.5 Kiss FM Tailgate Park begin at 3 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and the free t-shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at all gates into the stadium.
