COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Halloween is just around the corner and that means it's also time for Purple Palooza.
The 2019 edition will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Hooper Eblen Center, starting at 5 p.m. with trick-or-treating on the concourse. Bring out your best costumes as Tech teams, student groups and community sponsors will hand out candy to all the little spooks and ghouls.
The event format will also be different this season as the night continues at 6 p.m. as the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team hosts the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in an exhibition contest. The Golden Eagle men's team will take on Bryan College in an exhibition following at approximately 8 p.m.
For the Tech women, it will be a sneak preview for a tremendously talented Golden Eagle squad, under the direction of Kim Rosamond and her staff, which was recently selected as the preseason No. 2 in the Ohio Valley Conference by the league's media. The coaches and SID poll will be announced on Tuesday as part of the league's Media Day event in Evansville, Ind.
With the Tech men, it'll be a first look at new head coach John Pelphrey's roster featuring several key returnees, as well as a talented crop of newcomers, as they begin their first run through the OVC.
The event, including the basketball doubleheader, is free to the public.
