COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Head coach Dave Zelenock has announced another new addition to the Tennessee Tech volleyball family. The Golden Eagle squad will welcome Emily Brooks from Franklin, Tenn., to the 2016 roster.

"Emily can do anything," Zelenock said. "She's most comfortable on the outside, but if we needed her at libero or even set, I bet she'd step in, figure it out, and be good at it. She pushes herself very hard, and that drive has helped her to become probably the most technically proficient player in the class." 

Brooks attended Centennial High School in Franklin where she played volleyball as a middle and was a three-year letterwinner under coach Erin O'Day. She also played as an outside hitter for her travel team under Nikki Armstrong. 

While at Centennial, Brooks received multiple Athlete-of-the-Week honors, as well as was named team MVP, and received All-District and All-Tournament accolades. She was also recognized on the 2015 Under Armour watch list. 

"Tennessee Tech met all my requirements," Brooks commented about her choice to become a Golden Eagle. "I was looking for a school with 10-15,000 enrollment, close (but not too close) to home with a comprehensive offering of degrees. I loved the coaching staff from the first contact and the girls on the team are great players and just wonderful people. TTU felt like home the first time I stepped onto campus." 

Brooks is the daughter of David and Jennifer Brooks.

She is the fifth player announced by Zelenock for the 2016 signing class, joining Elizabeth Bossong of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Taylor Houck from Fletcher, N.C., Rachel Thomas from Okemos, Mich., and Abigail Duncan from Memphis, Tenn.
