COOKEVILLE, Tenn.—The Tennessee Tech volleyball team will welcome another new face to the Golden Eagle squad, coach Dave Zelenock has announced. Joining the Tech volleyball team next season will be Abigail Duncan.

"Abigail is the most complete outside I've ever recruited," Zelenock said. "She can pass like a libero, put the ball away like an L1, and make shots like an L2. She's a coach's kid and plays like she has had a volleyball in her hand since she could walk, and honestly she may have. We expect Abigail to compete for time on the left side."

Duncan is a native of Memphis, Tenn., where she played varsity volleyball as a starter for four years at White Station High School. While at White Station, Duncan played as a middle blocker and outside hitter, and was named captain her senior season.

She was named to the All-District and All-Region teams all four years of her high school career, as well as was named a Max Preps/AVCA Tennessee Player of the Week on September 2, 2014. She received District MVP accolades in 2015 as well as was named Best of Preps in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Duncan led her team to District regular season and tournament championships all four years of her high school career as well as captured a sectional championship and state tournament title in 2015.

Throughout her high school career, Duncan tallied 1,533 kills, 233 blocks and 299 aces, while averaging a 44.1 kill percentage her senior season.

"I am excited to attend Tennessee Tech because the atmosphere that the coaches present to me is amazing," Duncan said about her decision to choose Tennessee Tech. "The girls on the team are super positive, they support each other, and they sincerely enjoy being with the team. I feel that the coaches will be demanding and supportive which will drive me to do well on the court and off.

"I also appreciate the relationship the athletic department has with the professors on campus. Tennessee Tech has a great campus and is located in a beautiful part of Tennessee. I am super excited to get started as a Golden Eagle in 2016. It pumps me up to know that I get to be a part of such a great community! I can't wait to elevate my skills and I hope to be able to contribute to the team in some way."

Duncan is the daughter of Jon and Kari Duncan. She was born December 12, 1997, and intends to major in education.
