MURRAY, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team wrapped up action at the Jan Weaver Invitational Saturday afternoon, finishing 12th at Murray State's tournament hosted at Miller Memorial Golf Course.
For the third time in as many rounds, the Golden Eagles completed their trip around the links with a score of 317. Tech turned in a final score of 951. Murray State rallied to win its own event, shooting an 898 for the 54 holes of action to edge Central Arkansas by two shots.
Bradley's Taylor Ledwein took home individual medalist honors, shooting a 69-74-73=216.
Leading the purple and gold for the entire tournament was redshirt senior Arianna Clemmer, carding a 79-76-80=235 to tie for 38th overall. Finishing just a shot back of her teammate was Elisabeth Toennessen. The sophomore fired the low score of the day for the Golden Eagles with a 4-over 76, tying for 41st with a 236.
Freshman Ainsley Simms trimmed a stroke from her first and second-round scores of 80, turning in a 79 on the day for a 239 to tie for 49th. Next on the leaderboard for the purple and gold was sophomore Katrine Toennessen, finishing the event with a 245 after a round of 85.
Rounding out the Tech lineup, senior Isabel York concluded the event with an 82 on Saturday, totaling 249 for the weekend. Competing as an individual, sophomore Gittle Sciolis produced her best round of the tournament, posting an 80 for a final score of 254.
The Tech squad will wrap up the 2020-21 schedule with the Ohio Valley Conference Championships at the Highlands Course on the Robert Trent Jones Trail at Hampton Cove. Play is scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 18 through Tuesday, Apr. 20 in Owens Cross Roads, Ala.
