COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team gets right back to action Monday morning, visiting the familiar Silver Lakes Golf Course for Jacksonville State's Chris Banister Golf Classic in Gadsden, Ala.
CHRIS BANISTER GOLF CLASSIC: Oct. 7-8, 2019 – 54 holes (36 Monday, 18 Tuesday), located at the par-72, 6,107-yard Silver Lakes Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Gadsden, Ala. Tech will kick off action with a shotgun start Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. CT. Tuesday's action will feature tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
GOLDEN EAGLE LINEUP: Competing for the Golden Eagles are sophomore Heidi Lawson, junior Hannah Bratton, freshman Katrine Toennessen, freshman Gittle Sciolis, and freshman Elisabeth Toennessen (pictured above).
THE COMPETITION: The 11-team field consists of host Jacksonville State, as well as Alabama State, Austin Peay, Elon, James Madison, Little Rock, Murray State, North Alabama, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and Troy.
THOUGHTS FROM ASSISTANT COACH SMITH: "It's a quick turnaround for our ladies, but we are coming off some great momentum from a challenging course in Clarksville. These women know the work and stamina it takes to compete in 36/18-hole tournaments. It'll also be a great experience having our younger players on such a beautiful Robert Trent Jones course."
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Lawson represents the only Golden Eagle making a return to the Chris Banister Golf Classic from last year's lineup. She tied for 19th overall in the field of 40, carding a final-round of 78. Tech will send three rookies to this year's edition of the tournament, with Elisabeth Toennessen making her first appearance in the lineup this season after competing as an individual last week.
